When & Where

The focus of Origins UK is roughly the period of the British Empire — 1600 to 1947. It was, at its peak in 1917, the most powerful empire the world has ever known. It controlled 23% of the world’s population and 24% of the earth’s land mass. Within that period, Origins UK limits its scope largely to the United Kingdom, where the great majority of Spriggs-related families lived.

Our Families

Many of the family names listed below, although they are all in my family tree, have not yet had data added. That will take time and perhaps you can help with that. You can search a specific family by using the menu: Archive > Search by Family. The number in brackets after a family name indicates the number of records (posts) on file.

Get Started!

There are no ‘members-only’ pages. If you wish to participate — contribute to the forum, give or get archive material or add a story, I simply ask that you hold a genuine interest in a family and have knowledge of that family which will benefit the whole. I believe that people both outside and inside a family can offer valuable knowledge and insights. As well, all participants in Origins UK must register. On the menu, go to Login/out > Register.

Thanks for visiting.
