It began as a legacy for my sons. I wanted them to know who and where they came from, what remarkable people were in their family tree. As I developed the site, I realized the importance of sharing my archive with other families, that they may know more about their origins. As well, my hope is that others, particularly younger folks, will get really interested in Origins, or at least in genealogy and continue to build and share the story of our roots.<\/p>\n[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why do you call the website Origins UK?” _builder_version=”4.14.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]\n

‘Origins,’ of course, is a reference to our roots, our family through history. UK was added to indicate where most of the Spriggs families\u00a0 history occurred. It also differentiates this site from Origins Far East, the story of my father’s family in Southeast Asia, now under construction, and a third site yet to be developed, Origins North America, which focuses on my wife Randi’s deep pioneer roots in North America.<\/p>\n[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What families are included In Origins: UK?” _builder_version=”4.14.2″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” open=”off” sticky_enabled=”0″]\n

Hopefully,\u00a0 Origins will never be finished. It’s a critical consideration. If something happens to me, the site and its content need to continue.\u00a0 I have left instructions in my estate notes to keep Origins UK operating until a family member (or other interested soul) can be found to manage it. As well, two family members have administrator authority (complete authority) over the website, allowing them, for instance, to download a current copy of the site. The big challenge will be to find one or more people with an abiding interest in Origins UK and website developer skills.     Tales<\/h5>\n

    Each of the 4 parts of ‘Origins: Tales From The British Empire’ can be downloaded, once in the pdf viewer. To get to the viewer from the Origins UK home page, go to ‘House’ on the top menu, then from your house menu, choose ‘Tales.’\u00a0 Now you are in the pdf viewer. Look for the download button on the top of the viewer.<\/p>\n

    Archive Posts<\/h5>\n

    I have not been able to find any easy way to download posts.     There are basically three elements to Origins. You can access the elements using buttons on the home page or on any page with the menu:<\/p>\n

    1. Archive<\/h5>\n

    An archive of material, each item or group of items placed on a post. The posts can be retrieved by employing one of five filters available in the right sidebar on most pages: Content Type, Era, Family, Author or Tag.<\/p>\n

    2. Tales<\/h5>\n

    Stories about ancestors and the times in which they lived, presented in four parts: Britain Before machines, Empire Rising, Peak & Decline, Human Rights.<\/p>\n

    The Treehouse Cafe is a forum, a place to connect with other Origins members.
